Personal Impact Statement
The competition brief was to produce a concept masterplan for a new district in Abha, Saudia Arabia. The site is part of a greater vision to promote societal equity, growth and prosperity within the region.
As the masterplanner, designer and concept CGI lead I working independently through a 3 week competition timeline.
The key challenge was fulfilling the briefed area requirement while minimising excavation and limiting cut and fill. The plan was iteratively sketched and modelled using terrain data as a backdrop. An initial line sketch of the road network was run through a grasshopper script to establish non-compliant gradients that would require adjustment.
I modelled through the sketches, textured the terrain and rendered out a series of high quality aerial visuals to communicate the scheme as a whole.
