Project Description
Personal Impact Statement
The ultimate goal is to design a vibrant urban environment with a network of public areas, celebrating the Egyptian culture together with the Mediterranean context.
In order to create a truly sustainable development, a wide range of public amenity areas are provided with strong interconnections; these amenities are clearly defined and organised around outdoor spaces which are activated by programmes and functions.
Tasked with masterplanning, facilities design and concept CGI I worked with a medium sized team of colleagues throughout the course of this project. I developed the concept design of unbriefed facilities such as sports complex, clubhouses, retail zones and a large commercial marina.
A key challenge was the vast dimensions of the site and intent to create appropriate urban scale of streetscapes within the greater urban realm. Further to this, the computational weight of assets conflicting with hardware capacity in 2016/2017 meant a level of technical sophistication was involved. Detailed data analysis of terrain, view corridors paired against successful and less successful mediterranean coastal developments was used to inform my descisions.
The modification of different plot area schemmatics and interfaces with a site-wide masterplanning approach allowed for the execution of a dynamic and unique masterplan development.
